When I heard the word “relationships” as a theme, the first thing that came to mind was my family. People passed away, birthdays were coming up, and I was far away from them.
This project started from that feeling of nostalgia and longing, slowly evolving into a reflection on the general feeling of missing someone that’s not there, of the power that absence holds.
Ausencia delves into the exploration of self-portrait, using the concept of the mycelium as a starting point, looking for connection within the roots, in this bond that transcends time and distance.
The project also incorporates light painting, capturing the fleeting nature of presence and absence, the play between light and darkness, and the subtle traces they leave behind.
